I think I'll answer the title question straight away. The workmanship and quality of this belt are fine, its (relatively) low price reflects that this is a more simple belt design without many of the luxuries that are required for long term wear.
The Service:
I was very pleased indeed to find that the belt could be made in a short time. Good service, nice people.
The Belt:
The following refers solely to the male, 'Jock Strap' design which I have. The female design seems to have the same belt and chains, however I have no other information on the design or security of the female front shield.
The Design: Waist Belt
The waist belt is a solid, single piece of steel, of a narrow width approx 1cm, but a nice thickness, approx 2.5mm. It bends to allow opening and closing, but retains its shape well.
The belt is adjustable with holes to allow for change in waist size, and sits *above* the hips, similar to the Tollyboy model.
It is secured via a tiny padlock, however unlike the small padlocks you might find on luggage, this one does look like it can take a bit of punishment.
The Design: Cage
The cage consists of a curved triangle of flat metal which is held in place around the genital area, and it is to this that the rest of the cage is solidly welded. Unlike some other, more expensive belts the cage is shaped to allow room for the testicles to do whatever it is that they want to do, and this adds to the comfort of the design.
The cage is effective in preventing erection and allows just enough expansion, to make you wish you could expand a little bit more, and a little bit more, and leads to "Ooooh I'd like you to take this thing off now" whimpering... etc.
On a down side the triangle does dig into the groin, and there's no luxuries like neoprene rubber and made to measure fitting here. However comfort level is fine for the short-term, and maybe longer if your size and shape happens to be just right.
The Design: Chains
Welded on to the three corners of the cage are three lengths of chain, the waist belt is then threaded though the top links, they are not welded to the waist belt. This part of the design allows the belt to be adjusted for different body shapes and sizes, ie the belt is simply threaded though a lower link, which tightens the belt when it is put on. The rear chain can be moved sufficiently for defecation.
Materials:
Apparently now available in stainless steel, I would strongly recommend this option if you require any thing more than very occasional use. The normal painted 'hammerite' will chip and lead to rusting, which tends to put you off the whole idea a little.
Is it effective?:
As to security, for its price it does a good job, the cage is solid and well made, but of course it suffers with the usual design problem associated with chastity belts:
Overall:
If you're looking for a long term belt, probably this is not it. However, if you're new to chastity games or you're looking to be locked up and teased for an evening every so often, then I'd recommend this device without hesitation.
Contacts:
If you are in the UK you may well be able to meet the designer and view one at the Fetish Market held in London. (look out for some of their other inventive toys too).
