This chip identifies the user to the locking station. The belts are modified to use a special electronic radial lock which is connected to the locking station. Upon application of the lock to the belt, it senses and identifies the user by the microchip. The belt needs more than just a warm body before it will lock- it needs the specific ID from the chip. When ID is confirmed the lock locks, the armored cable connection to the locking station disconnects from the lock and the time stamp begins. The user is protected from accusation until such time when he returns home and reverses the process.

• The Locking Station- The LS is the size of a 3 drawer file cabinet and is a heavy gauge steel enclosure that consists of 2 pieces. The base is firmly bolted to the floor, usually in a closet. The top piece, which houses the computer, the UPS system and the modem, is then locked to the base by the CSS installer. The LS has a control panel with LOCK and UNLOCK buttons. There is also an armored interconnect cable which mates with the lock. When the LOCK button is pushed the lock engages and the cable disconnects. To reverse the process the cable is inserted into the lock and the UNLOCK button is pushed. The lock disengages and the belt can be removed. The lock stays mated to the cable until the cycle is repeated. The computer monitors the date and time of each use. This is recorded on both the hard drive and on a CD. Once a week this information is called in to CSS. Once a month the LS and the belt are inspected and verified that they are in proper working order and not tampered with.

• Administration- CSS maintains a file on each belt's use and produces a monthly report which is signed by a notary that specifies the dates and times the belt has been in use, and, that all operational parameters have been maintained. In the event of any accusation, these records will prove the innocence of the user within the time frame that the belt was in use. When the monthly inspection of the LS takes place, the CSS tech removes the CD and installs a new one. The recorded CD is checked against the call-in info and then archived.
