"My first time in the belt" as per your request.
I received my belt back in '93 when Jones was still living in Chicago. We place the order three weeks before he was to move to Florida and he said that he would try and finish it prior to his moving. Well he did and it was not more than 18 days later we had my belt.
The first time I locked it on was really thrilling (and still is to this day) The first hour or so was fine and my then finance and I decided to go to a movie down at the Mall of America.
Sitting in the movie was not too bad but after the movie the walk back to the car (some 15 miles or so it seemed) proved to be LIVING HELL!!!!!!!!!! The inside of my thighs were rubbed raw and the waist band caused some blisters. When we finally got home and my wife removed the belt and saw the damage, she was a little put off by this whole chastity thing.
My advice to ANY beginner would be to read ALL of the information on AB's site and take it all to head. Back in '93 there was no place to turn for help in breaking in a CB. I was on my own.
Some advice would be to take it really slow, especially with a homemade belt. Even a professionally built belt by Jones, Tollyboy, or AD will take several days to get the right feel to it.
Anyway, after several years and some major modifications by me, my belt is very comfortable and VERY secure. Then there are the tricks one learns to make the belt more comfortable like wearing women's panties - the nylon makes a good barrier against the front shield rubbing on the inner theighs.
Also the use of panty liners to catch that last drip of urine that never wants to let go. Liberal use of baby powder and some extra padding around the waist band makes the belt a possible permanent part of my life. Thank God that the Mrs. Belted still lets me out every week or two.
