Caution - be careful making measurements

I just spent an interesting afternoon at Dressing For Pleasure trying to get the measurements for my belt straightened out. My wife spoke with Bill Jones on the tele and remeasured in their dressing room and I think we found out what's wrong. I would like to share this with others in the hope that their measurements will be satisfactory.

To review: I got my belt about two weeks ago and it seemed to fit properly except that the shield was too low and prevented defecation.

At first I thought the the shield had to be trimmed. But you have to understand that every measurement on the laundry list is important and that one bad measurement can louse up the others. We spoke with Bill Jones (who offered to measure me in person if we were to take a quick trip to Florida) and the shield was OK. The problem was the measurement for the chains. (This is measurement "I" in the instructions). When taking this measurement be sure that you do NOT take the tape through the ass cleft. Just drape the tape over the plump part of your ass cheek...not too tightly. In my case, it resulted in a 1 1/2" INCREASE in this measurement, which allows the belt to ride properly up over my hips, bringing the shield forward enough (hopefully) to allow me to defecate, and stop the chaffing I received over each hip as the result of the belt being pulled down by the too-short chains.

From what Bill said, this measurement "I" (front to back 3 1/2" off-center) should be about 2 inches greater than "H", ("H" is between the legs from front center to back center). If you have a bigger butt, it will be a greater difference. If you have no butt, it will be less. My original measurement was a 1" difference, and that was my problem.

I don't think you can get this from the instructions, and we told Bill that. I will see if I can get Constance to provide more details or even a diagram.

The belt cannot really be fixed by trimming or adjustments. Bill has to throw out one piece and weld in another. That is why a fix is so expensive. If the shield was the problem a new shield would have to be installed at the cost of $150. Replacing the chains costs $50. Since the rings and rubber must be removed to so this, I can understand this charge. And it was our error,so I don't feel too badly about it. But if my experience can save someone else the cost and delay, great.
