I am pleased to say, they returned to production about 2 months ago. They are for all intents and purposes indistiguishable from the bracelet on the Altairboy site. They went out of production about 4 years ago when there was a problem with the supply of the tubing used to make the hinges. When this problem was overcome Hal was too ill to resume production of them. Since taking over the business I have resumed the manufacture of them. The only change I have made is to substitue LASER welding of the tubes for the silver soldering previously used. This gives a stronger joint but unless you are a metal worker the difference in appearance is probably indetectable.
The price remains the same as when Hal had them in production £85 plus freight (about $140 USD.)
This second photograph shows 2 bracelets and a old style 1 inch wide neck
collar. Collars will soon be available on the same principle. The first of
the experimental ones were due back from the welders last
week but have not arrived yet. Collars are now standard at 1 1/14 inches
to match the bracelets.
The hinges are exactly the same as the bracelets
- the metal rolls to shape perfectly so unless there is some problem in
holding the curved shape under the welders I should think these will be in
production from next week. The only change in these from Hal's originals is
an increase in width from 1 inch to 1 1/4 inches to exactly match the
bracelets.
