A hi-tech bra with integrated satellite-system can now protect women from being robbed or sexually abused.
The lingerie-bodyguard developed by Kursty Groves (26), student of engineering in London, is permanently recording the heart-beat of the wearer and gives alarm if the heart-beat is changing very fast to a very high level.
It will take approx. 12 month until the "Techo-Bra" will be ready for mass production said Ross Haffenden, product developer of Proactiv, a London-based company specialized on pulse measurement devices, on Tuesday.
After the alarm is signaled by a special minature mobile-phone the wearer can be traced without problems using GPS satellite technology. If the heart-beat of the woman changes out of other reasons (well, I think I know what they mean ;) the device can be switched off. The is no risk of wrong alerts (e.g. when climbing up stairs) because many different parameters are analysed.
Proactiv also promises high comfort for the wearer: The devices they produce right now automatic pulse measurement are not heavier than a box of matches, so that the electronic parts of the hi-tech bra are not to mention, as Haffenden said.
The bra will not cost more than approx. 70 US-$.
Krusty Grove is also working already on the development of a special T-shirt for males.
