Just after the new year began, I made an order with Max Taylor for a K~ Belt.
I phoned Max Taylor and we agreed on a date. (Luckily germany isnīt that big, thereīs no place you canīt reach by car in a day). I drove to Mannheim on a Saturday and we met at noon at his apartment/workshop. He seems to be a quite nice guy and we talked a lot about the scene, common interests and so on.
For the measurement he rolled out a big plastic blanket, where I had to sit on. Then I had to put loads of vaseline on my genital area, the pubic hair had been cropped short in the morning. Then a plaster cast was made of my genital area, leaving only the penis free. The cast dryed and I had to come to the decision, that my pubic hair hadnīt been cut short enough (but I survived :-))), then the measurement of my penis was made and all the other things you need for a belt.
Basically the K~ is an simple but ingenious design. Your whole genital area is totally covered in several layers of plastic (Kohlefaser in German, itīs in fact some high tech carbon based fibre but I donīt know the correct english expression). The material directly touching your skin is a skinfriendly, fungizide rubber. The whole thing (I choose the downwearer model - penis pointing down) is just like a second skin around your genitals. You canīt touch anything, the only openings are of wire mesh to make cleaning and urinating possible. You enter the whole belt just like a trouser, stepping through two loops and then fastening them above your hips with an integrated belt.
The whole system has pros and cons. The biggest pro is of course the fact that it is absolutely comfortable. Since it is build on a plaster cast of your body the fitting is nothing less than perfect (even the dryed plaster cast felt very comfortable). The weight is absolutely negligible since it is made out of carbon fibre. The body of the cover itself is hard as steel and and the size is so small that you can wear it under any kind of trouser without being noticed. Max also guaranteed that it was not detectable by airport security but thatīs not a risk I want to take.
The cons are the material of the belt. If you want to get out (and demolish 550$ worth of belt) you can get out. You need a wire cutter and off the belt goes. But to be honest, the same thing is also true for steel belts. You only need a cutter that is big enough and you are free again. I guess the only belt that is something akin to safe is the Latowski belt.
Since the fitting is absolute, and you canīt touch even the tiniest speck of skin on your whole genial area, the security should be quite high. The whole thing is some kind of space age technology with the different layers of composite materials and the "tube" itself seems to be quite tamperproof. The only thing that could be improved for security is the belt part. But time will show.
In my opinion the belt is perfect for serious long term use. It is not as flashy as a steel belt, but I had my share of steel last year and I sincerely opt for high tech, low weight, now.
The finished belt was to be delivered at the end of March. It is now the middle part of May, and no belt in sight. I will inform you as soon as it has arrived.
