Table Modifications
I started with a table from BDGsales
and made just a few small modifications to it. The most
obvious
is the provision to raise the lower third of the table so that the
bottom's knees can be raised. Since I intended to use this
station for
very long sessions, I needed a way to "unload" the bottom's back. If
have your bottom lying completely flat on this table, I have found that
eventually the muscles will start cramping, which can be very
painful and end the scene. The
easiest way to unload the back is to elevate the knees. So I
added some
hinges and an adjustable stay to the lowest section of the table's
surface. The image on the right below, shows this
modifications
in greater detail. (Click on the images for a larger view.)
The hinges
I selected are intended to be used on a bench seat, and they move
forward as the surface is raised. This is a desirable feature
in my application. The adjustable
stay I used is intended to be used for supporting a drafting
table. I am not completely satisfied with this stay, because
I need to use a tool to tighten it enough so it does not slip.
But it's the best solution I have found so far.

The images below show
the other two table
modifications. As you can see in the left image, a couple of
the
table bolts have been replace by threaded rod. This rod will
be
used as an attachment point for the arm tubes. In the right
image, you can see that I have changed out the shoulder pipes for
longer ones. These longer pipes will make it easier to attach and remove the head box. With these longer tubes,
the head box can just be raised and lowered as needed, rather than
removing it completely.
