As to what you can expect I'll try to explain. It's a combination of voice and text chat. you press a button to talk and everyone hears you. In order to talk you must have a microphone and it must be functioning.Also you MUST be running microsoft windows. Sorry MAC and Linux users. I didn't write the applet and don't have any control over this. IF I can find an applet that allows us to do the same thing on other platforms as well I will change this, but for now this is where it stands.
If you don't have a microphone, you can always listen and you have the ability to text chat as well. Some people have had problems chatting. There are a variety of reasons why this might be so. If you are experiencing problems here are some basic troubleshooting tips:
1 click on the speaker icon next to your clock, and make sure the microphone is turned up, and that it nor anything else is muted. If you don't see microphone listed go to options in the sound control and properties and put a checkmark in the microphone.
2. go to start-settings -control panel and click on sound icon. Make sure the recording volume is turned up.
3. Make sure your microphone is plugged into the right port on your sound card.
4. If none of this works..when on the page click on sound configuration on the applet itself, this will link you to a page that will offer to configure your sound for you, and a few folks have solved their problems this way.
For the most part people seem to be able to chat right away, but for the odd person who's having difficulty try the above steps or ask one of us. One more word of advice....Although it has not been a problem yet there is no method to control who comes to the page. There are no operators so to speak. If someone is annoying you, the only recourse you have is to right click on their name and click on IGNORE.
